Appearance: Like most of the Sonic Heroes, Shadow is instantly noticeable. He is three feet, three inches tall and weighs in at 77 lbs, give or take a Chaos Emerald. Shadow, like most Mobians is tall and lanky, his arms and legs being extremely slender.
The feature that draws Shadow the most comparisons to a certain blue rival are his quills which like Sonic's are razor-sharp, however Shadow's quills are slightly more haphazard, sticking out to the sides and curving at the ends. Almost all of Shadow's body is covered in black fur, the exceptions are his arms and quills which have streaks of red running down them, as well as a tuft of white fur just below his neck. The inside of his ear and mouth are covered with tan fur, which resembles skin.
Shadow is almost always wearing a pair of white gloves and his special jet shoes, Inhibitor Rings have been placed on both of his hands and legs to keep his power in check.
Shadow could be described as handsome, not that he would care. His eyes curve at the sides and dip down into the middle where his brow nearly splits them. | Personality: Though soft-spoken and reserved, Shadow never bluffs if he makes a threat, he has every intention of carrying it out. Shadow prefers to work alone but will work together when he feels he must. Shadow is known to treat others in a very callous manner, and in combat, he displays a natural "killer instinct" that Sonic lacks.
Alongside his dark demeanor, he can be smug, stubborn, and somewhat sarcastic. He is also shown to be highly arrogant and self absorbed. Shadow constantly refers to himself as the "Ultimate Lifeform" and thus belittles people as well as insulting their lack of strength. He is also constantly serious, even when not on a mission, and he has little to no regard for silliness.
Shadow also has a strong sense of identity, because of this strong sense of identity, he possesses a strong will, making him very rarely susceptible to being manipulated by other forces.
Deep down, under all of his angst and aggression, Shadow has a heart, and does deeply care for some of the people he has met. | Backstory: Shadow was created over 50 years ago by Professor Gerald Robotnik, grandfather to the legendary mad scientist Julian Robotnik, as a project to help find a cure for his ailing grandaughter, Maria, using Chaos Energy. Shadow became fond of Maria as she was the first being to show him kindness, unfortunately, this was all cut short when GUN decided to shut down Gerald's project, deeming it a danger to humanity.
As GUN sent it's men in to capture Gerald they shot and killed Maria in front of Shadow, causing the creature his most traumatic experience, Gerald was captured and Shadow put into suspended animation, but before Gerald's execution he left instructions for freeing Shadow.
Fifty years later, mad scientist and would-be world conqueror, Dr. Julian Robotnik freed the hedgehog from his prison. Shadow vowed vengeance on the planet for what happened to Maria. Teaming up with Robotnik and Rouge the Bat to collect the Chaos Emeralds and unleash the Eclipse Cannon, a powerful cannon created by Gerald to help defend GUN against possible alien attack, to destroy the world.
Eventually, through interactions with Sonic the Hedgehog and his allies, Shadow learned that Maria's real wish was for peace. Shadow, in a last ditch effort to save the world, sacrificed himself to save the planet, falling to the planet, thought dead upon contact.
Death was not the final end however, Shadow was retrieved by Robotnik and put into stasis to recover, eventually being saved by Rouge and joining her and Omega in finding Eggman and eventually helping defeat his latest version of Metal Sonic.
Since then Shadow has helped the world when he can, but recently he disappeared and has only recently come back into the world, hoping to show himself as a true hero and find his purpose in the world. | Abilities: Shadow is a being made of natural Chaos Energies, which gives him a great number of abilities.
Speed- Shadow is incredibly fast, the only being on the planet who rivals Sonic in speed.
Spin Dash - Much like Sonic, Shadow is able to wrap himself into a ball and cut into opponents.
Chaos Control - Without an emerald Shadow is able to teleport short distances. With an emerald Shadow is able to teleport at will and can even alter time and space if given enough power.
Chaos Spear- Shadow launches a spear of pure energy at an opponent, much more powerful with an emerald.
Chaos Blast - A huge blast of energy that ripples throughout the location it is used in. Much more powerful with an emerald.
Inhibitor Rings- When taken off of either his hands or feet, Shadow is able to unleash his full power but it becomes much easier for him to lose control or exhaust his energies.
Shadow is also a skilled hand-to-hand fighter but rarely resorts to such techniques. | Strengths/Weaknesses: Powerful - Shadow is one of the strongest beings on the planet.
Reckless - Shadow uses his powers without thinking often, causing quite a bit of destruction.
Driven- When given a goal Shadow goes to it and doesn't stop until he completes the task
Egotistical- Shadow is full of himself and tends to push people away with his ego.
Exhaustion- When pushed to the limit Shadow can actually exhaust his Chaos Energies, especially without his Inhibitor Rings.
Immortality- Shadow is unable to age and is capable of taking large amounts of damage before even passing out. | | Super Form: When transformed by the seven Chaos Emeralds, Super Shadow gains the ability to fly and becomes invincible to most attacks by mortal beings. Like other known super transformations, Super Shadow’s physical abilities get an enormous boost as well. His speed and physical strength are vastly enhanced to the same levels as Super Sonic's, allowing him to break through obstacles, and his reflexes are improved to the point where they can match his upgraded movements. While transformed, all of Super Shadow’s Chaos Powers are enhanced to their full limit. |
