||Shinedown - Fly From The Inside
Appearance: Famous for his spinning set of propeller tails, Miles appears at 3'2'': carrying a frail, yet agile build that allows him to accelerate to speeds nearly matching Sonic himself. While the majority of his body is covered in an orange coat, he retains patches of snow white over his stomach and on the tips of both his tails, as if they'd been dipped in paint. His muzzle, which comes in similar color, spikes out from the sides like the edges of a leaf. Comparatively, his ears are perky and large, and widen out in the shapes of overblown, almost rounded triangles. In the way of clothing, he has only pairs of gloves and sneakers to speak of - the likes of which are a typical pattern of red, white, and gray.
Personality: To start off, Tails' IQ is just a tad above average for his age. Maybe more than tad. Okay, he's a boy genius. Both friendly and humble, Tails will do just about anything to help an innocent soul. He strives to be like his hero Sonic, and once looked up to the blue blur as a complete role model. Ever since then, however, he has begun to branch off and pick up an identity of his very own. More than just a sidekick, Tails has proven time and time again that he is quite capable, and has even outsmarted Eggman on occasion. He does lack confidence, however, and admittedly finds himself a bit intimidated in the face of danger. More often than not, Tails' displays a tremendous courage to fight away his fears, and charges headlong into battle. He has a bad habit of rambling on; sometimes even to his enemies, and this may result in Tails awkwardly laying his whole plan of action out to someone who shouldn't be in the know. He's pretty clever, though, and an amazingly quick thinker at that.
The unbreakable bond between Sonic and Tails stems all the way back to West Side Island, where they made their very first encounter. Starstruck by the hedgehog's unmatched speed, Tails began to follow the blue blur through the island. Although he was ignored at first, upon seeing young Miles' determination to keep up, Sonic figured it would do no harm if he allowed the fox to tag along. One afternoon, Tails discovered an interesting airplane abandoned on the island beach. Mesmerized by it's admirable features, he rushed to take a closer look. But low and behold, he would only find Sonic fast asleep in the cockpit! That's when he noticed a flash of light coming from the woods. Explosions boomed through the forest before an army of robots surrounded the land. With fire in his eyes, Sonic muttered to himself the name of the demon responsible for this mess. "Eggman..." The doctor's laugh echoed through the woods. Announcing his latest scheme, Robotnik let it be known that he planned to power his grandest creation, the Death Egg, with seven chaos emeralds, which he vowed to once and for all bring Sonic to and end. With that in mind, the fresh new duo of Sonic and Tails set off on their first adventure, and would later put an end to Eggman's Death Egg, making it their first victory in a line of many more to come.
Instead of impacting Mobius, the Death Egg actually crash landed on Angel Island. A second tale began when Dr. Robotnik tricked Knuckles, an echidna and guardian of the legendary Floating Island, into thinking that Sonic and Tails were out to steal his emerald. As Super Sonic and Tails landed on the floating utopia, they found themselves ambushed by a burrowed echidna. Knuckles wound up knocking the seven emeralds straight out of them. And while they recovered, the attacker snatched the emeralds right from under their noses, making his escape unscratched! While the duo was busy fending off Knuckles, Eggman began his search for the Master Emerald - which he planned to use to power his Death Egg once again. Sonic and Tails eventually set out on a race against Knuckles AND Dr. Robotnik for the grand prize of the Master Emerald to prevent the Death Egg from being rebuilt and threatening the planet a second time.
A major turning point for the two-tailed fox took a start when his prototype Tornado II plane fell from the sky and crashed onto the shore of Emerald Coast. Found and rescued by his hero Sonic, Tails told the hedgehog all about his latest energy source - a chaos emerald! He went on to tell Sonic to meet him at his work station in the Mystic Ruins. Here's where the trouble starts! Much to their surprise, their nemesis, Dr. Robotnik yet again beat them to the punch. He demanded that Tails surrender his emerald, but the fox courageously refused and charged headlong into battle. When the dust settled and the smoke cleared, it seemed Eggman STILL wasn't through! He snagged Miles' emerald right from under him, and fed it to his new pet. C-chaos!? God of Destruction! Apparently so.
Miles Prower's greatest challenge showed it's ugly face when Tails single handedly must take on the doctor and his latest death contraption - the Egg Walker. I-it's huge! "You fool... Away, before I make mincemeat out of you!" Standing small in front of this enormous machine, Tails tried his best to convince himself he wasn't afraid. "I'm not scared... I'm not scared. I can do this!" As heroic as ever, Miles cunningly brought Robotnik's robot to it's mechanical knees. After he finished off the Egg Walker, the surrounding crowd went wild in celebration. Looks like there's a new independent hero on the block. Better watch out, Sonic.
Of course it doesn't end there. Angel Island has fallen again! What now? Tails became the bearer of more bad news when he found Sonic in the ruins and informed him of the fall. They traveled to the shrine, only to find Dr. Eggman and Knuckles completely wiped out! Knuckles seemed to have his story straight - for once. "He stole my Chaos Emeralds... and Chaos... Chaos is still alive!" But apparently, he only had six of the seven Chaos Emeralds. The last one? It's still on board the Tornado II! In a hurry, Sonic and Tails made their way back to the Mystic Ruins to locate the plane and that last emerald. More bad news! Chaos beat them to it. With all seven in his power, Chaos transformed into Perfect Chaos and flooded Station Square with full force. What a catastrophe! And to Tails' surprise, Chaos had only absorbed the negative power of the emeralds. With the /real power/ of the emeralds, Sonic transformed into Super Sonic and ended the reign of Chaos once and for all, bringing this adventure to an end.
One day, Tails was at home watching TV when he just happened to catch the news. He was shocked to see Sonic on TV - arrested for doing something terrible! Or so the fox was led to believe. "That's not like Sonic..." he said to himself, hopping in his Tornado III and heading straight for Prison Island. On his way there, he ran into Eggman -- and Amy! That can't be good. "Tornado transformation!" shouted the fox. His plane's insides twisted and turned until the plane had become a walker. And with it, he was able to save Amy and bring Robotnik down yet again. After meeting with Sonic, Tails fell witness along with many others to a shocking event. After announcing his latest scheme to take over the planet, Eggman blew away half the moon with this powerful weapon in the sky!
The heroes managed to hot wire a space shuttle in one of Eggman's secret bases to reach the Space Colony ARK. Turns out the place used to be a research center. But not anymore... Of course Miles had further plans. Destroy that weapon on the inside using a fake Chaos Emerald. It's genius, no? "It has the same wavelength and properties, but it's less powerful than the real one. It's designed to reverse the energy field inside the Chaos Emeralds and blow up. It looks so real, even a machine can't tell the difference!" The plan - switch the Chaos Emeralds in the control room.
Things didn't go quite as easy as the group had expected. Eggman had captured Amy again, and threatened to blow her brains out - unless Sonic were to hand over his Chaos Emerald. Seeing as he had a fake one, Sonic saw this as an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Free Amy, and replace the Chaos Emerald. Of course, that was a trap as well! The second before the hedgehog had the chance to place the emerald down, a glass tube dropped and concealed him on all ends. "You thought you could trick me with that fake emerald?" "Soo - how did you know it wasn't the real one?" "Because you just told me, fox boy!" Eggman sent Sonic flying into space - and to his supposed death. His last words: "I'm counting on you, Tails."
As Amy mourned, Tails found himself busy with another great challenge. "Sonic has asked me for the first time to do something for him! Eggman! I won't let you get away with this! I promised Sonic I wouldn't give up, and I won't. I'll make you pay for this!" And a second time, Tails independently prevailed against his nemesis. As always, things aren't over yet. Professor Gerald activated this program that had caused the Space Colony to fall out of orbit and on a crash course to Mobius! With their combined teamwork, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Rouge headed to the colony's core to stop the power of the Chaos Emeralds.
With great success, they were able to stop it. But why was the Space Colony still falling?! The prototype of the Ultimate Lifeform had become one with the ARK and continued the collision course down to Mobius. With the space colony nearly in the atmosphere, Sonic and Shadow used the seven Chaos Emerald's to reach their super transformations and stop the Final Hazard right in it's tracks. "Chaos... control!" Shadow falling to his death, the ending to this madness become both happy and tragic.
"Dear Sonic heroes,
Guess what Sonic Heroes? I've finally developed the ultimate weapon. In three days, I'll conquer the world. Think you can stop me?"
- Sincerely, Eggman."
Well how incredibly vague. Which ultimate weapon are we on, again? Number 582? Or maybe it was 583. In any case, it doesn't matter to Sonic. To him, it's an invitation to party. The trio of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, or... lets call them -- Team Sonic -- set off on yet another adventure. Three days, huh? No worries, they got this one. But they're not the only team out there.
Perhaps less threatening than the good doctor himself is Team Rose. If not only for Amy's inane supernatural ability to blindly follow the blue hedgehog to the ends of Mobius. She, Cream and Big had organized a group of their own. Might as well be one big search party. With Amy on the lookout for Sonic, Cream with her sights on Chocola the Chao, and Big with his missing... Froggy, they're more deadly than you might have guessed. Not much of a problem for Team Sonic to handle, though.
After taking down one of Eggman's latest contraptions, the team finds that the Eggman they just fought was a fake! "From these canyons, watch as I conquer the world with my air fleet. And this time you can't stop me." Turns out it was all a trap to stall for time. While Sonic and Knuckles ran off to stop the fleet, Tails stood behind and gazed down at the destroyed fake of an egg man. "It's not an Eggman robot..." He pondered to himself, running off to catch up with his teammates. What he didn't see, though, was an old foe rising up in liquid form. 'All lifeform data... successfully copied'. That can't be good.
"Hey, isn't that..." "Sonic!" "Talk about being stubborn and full of surprises..." Uh-oh. It's the latest team on the block, and Shadow's back from the grave! Let me introduce you to the anti-hero team of Shadow, Rouge and E-123 Omega. That heavy machine looks quite familiar. And from the looks of it, these guys were out for Eggman too. But Tails had little time to ponder such things, as Shadow had just grabbed a smash ball! Well not really, but it's fight time. After an equal battle, Team Sonic and Team Shadow made their separate ways.
Some time after, Team Sonic had successfully blew a huge dent in Eggman's fleet. And for once, Eggman's boss robot was actually intimidating. In more than one way. The Egg Emperor, he called it. It actually gave the trio a somewhat difficult time in smashing it up. But as always, the heroes of Mobius had prevailed. As they made their guyish celebrations, they were interrupted by the sound of a pink hedgehog running their way! Amy again! Sonic's eyes widened as he ran off in the opposite direction. All was well.
But who am I kidding? All is never well. The heavens thundered as Team Sonic made their desperate ways towards the source. As it had turned out, Eggman wasn't the grandest evil involved in this whole fiasco. But then again, when is he ever? The maniacal laughter from up above could only be made by one Metal Sonic. "ALL LIVING THINGS, KNEEL BEFORE YOUR MASTER!" What HAPPENED to him? Certainly didn't look anything like he had in their last encounter. Metal begun to draw power from the sky as the heroes observed in confusion. Next thing you know, Eggman's entire fortress exploded! And behind the wreckage in the sky was a dangerous operation. Pieces began to twist, turn and attach onto the android as he swiftly transformed into something completely different. Top it all off with a beastly roar and you've got yourself one hell of a final boss.
As the pawn robots began to retreat, Eggman and the Sonic Heroes stood to devise a battle plan. Robotnik began to explain that Metal Sonic had combined their data with the power of Chaos, and became super strong. "We can't defeat it! If only we had the seven chaos emeralds!" he cried. But what would this be without them? In triumph, they all pulled out an emerald. Metal Sonic had become so strong, that even WITH the emerald's power, victory chances were incredibly slim. "It would take a miracle!" A miracle, or one shining yellow hedgehog. "I'm going with you too!" shouted Tails. And a simple "You can count me in, too" from Knuckles. Team Rose, Team Shadow, and Team Chaotix were to to buy them some time as they transformed. A thumbs up from all parties - it was set.
"We'll show that creep the real super power of teamwork!" Sonic does say the darnedest things, doesn't he?
The others had done a heavy bit of damage to the now beast like Metal Sonic, but it was still too strong. It repaired instantaneously and flew off into the sky. Looks like that's their cue. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles stood together as the seven emeralds circled around them. With the emerald's power, Sonic was able to successfully transform. Although not enough leftover energy for Tails and Knuckles, they did receive some nifty barriers. After a battle that could only see victory through the real super power of teamwork, the trio brought Metal to his original knees. Pondering in his defeat, Metal Sonic couldn't help but question why he still wasn't able to surpass the original. At least Sonic was nice enough to offer him a rematch, though. Everyone went their separate ways, and this is the happily ever after.
Ever since then, Tails has been involved with plenty of other adventures. Perhaps too many to list off. But he's always willing to help out in any way he can, especially fighting off the bad guys in a way no one else could.
Residence: Tails' laboratory is in Emerald Town, as well as his home. He also has a workshop in the Mystic Ruins.
Abilities: Around 90% of the time, Tails is using something of his own creation in combat. A machine, a plane, a walker, maybe a laser or two. Point is, most of his battle tactics revolve around his own technology. Very rarely will you see him leap into battle with his fists raised. That's not to say Tails is completely vulnerable without his toys. He can spin dash and use his famous twin tails as a reliable weapon in battle. His ability to take flight comes in handy many times as well, although he can't stay in the air for more than a few minutes without getting tired. He's also pretty quick on his feet - although not nearly as fast as Sonic. He uses his tails to propel him forward like a moving fan. His famous line of Tornado planes often accompany him in battle.
Strengths/Weaknesses: A good portion of Tails' strengths stem from his high intelligence. He's a prodigy when it comes to mechanics. A real sharp thinker. Similar to Robotnik, Tails is synonymous with machines. Not exactly one to build sentient robots, however, Tails has more of a thing for vehicles; particularly planes. He finds them quite intriguing, and has taken up a more dedicated hobby of building them. The rest of his strength comes from his physical uniqueness. Like a helicopter, his tails allow him to fly great distances, but only in short bursts. While smart, Tails also has plenty of glaring psychological weaknesses. His lack of confidence, for one. He often talks a bit too much about his plans, sometimes accidentally revealing them to his enemies. He's sometimes too afraid of his enemies for his own good. His inability to surpass Sonic has always been a secret thorn in his side, and even though he's far beyond sidekick, he can't escape the shadow of world renowned hero, Sonic the Hedgehog.
- Sonic - Ever since their first encounter on West Side Island, the tag duo of Sonic and Tails have been inseparable. Once a simple sidekick, Tails has evolved into the blue hero's capable partner. Their trademark ability is when Sonic takes hold of Tails' fleet while he propels himself up into the air. Miles often had dreams of being cool like Sonic, and looked up to him as a role model when he was younger.
- Dr. Eggman - Robotnik is one of Tails' greatest rivals and long time arch nemesis. With nearly matched intelligence, it's no wonder these two find a worthy opponent in the other. Like Robotnik, Tails is an extraordinary mechanic. Although the products of their respective geniuses are polar opposites - Eggman creates machines for world conquest while Tails creates them to fight against it. These two have had many tense encounters in the past. Tails doesn't believe he's seen the end of the doctor.
- Knuckles - Although their first encounter wasn't so pleasant, Tails and Knuckles have grown to be good buddies. They have worked together many times in the past to put an end to Robotnik's schemes. They continue to prove themselves as worthy allies as well as friends to the other, but sometimes end up irritating each other due to the clash in personalities.
- Amy - A good friend of Tails'. The young fox has had to save her butt plenty of times in the past. Although she can sometimes be a bit too outspoken and annoying for Tails' tastes, she is still one of his greatest allies. Like Tails, Amy has come along way in her abilities since they were younger, and has even learned to ruthlessly defend herself with that piko-piko hammer she carries over her shoulder.
